PLWM Heritage Weekend 2010

Tuesday, 19 January, 2010

PLWM’ heritage weekend 2010 is due to take place on the weekend of 29th and 30th May 2010. Walks will focus on the Pontrhydfendigaid area in Ceredigion,   and mine visits will include Frongoch, Abbey Consols, Cwm Mawr and Llwyn Malus and will be conducted by members of the Welsh Mines Preservation Trust.

Members of the public are invited to attend the walks, where expert guides will bring alive the wealth of industrial heritage, particularly the lead mining legacy across the Uplands. Anyone is welcome to join all or just their preferred mine walk(s). More detailed information will be released closer to the time, but make a note in your diaries and put in an expression of interest so we can build up a list of attendees.

PLWM is organising the event, supporting partners include Cadw, Countryside Council for Wales and Ceredigion County Council. PLWM is a project which fits within the Rural Development Plan; a European Funded project with a focus on heritage tourism, improving the ‘Sense of Place’ in the locale and the physical heritage products in Northern Ceredigion. More about PLWM and the heritage projects are available on the website www.plwm.org.uk.
